What’s next in Iraq?

This rather unsettling article in the Washington Post lays out what the State Department is doing now in Iraq.
They are preparing to have a huge presence there, though not as large as the military’s has been. War-contracting commission co-chair, former Rep. Christopher Shays, worries that it will become another war contracting debacle.
The operation would have been even larger if Congress had not seriously cut back on funding it. The State Department will be taking on quaisi-military duties and will be highly challenged to make it all work after our military presence is gone from the Iraqi landscape.
